The white building situated at number 1, Murtala Mohammed Drive, former Bank Road, Ikoyi is enveloped in quietness on a bright Friday in July. The droplets of the early morning rain litter the ground while the sunshine above creates sharp bright reflection like a broken china plate splattered in the sun.

Inside the imposing structure lies an upscale luxury store, Modan. The store is the exclusive retailer of Giorgio Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Armani Collezioni, La Perla, Casadei, and Missoni. It is a store where you get lost in luxury goods without missing out on anything.

As I walked into the store a big banner on the wall with Modan boldly printed in gold on a black background stares me in the face. Turning right, leads me into the shop where an array of luxury goods is on display. Neatly arranged in the middle of the store are stylish tote bags from Roberto Cavalli and Armani for women. They come in different sizes—big and mini.

Lovers of sleek night wear will surely get nice pieces to buy at Modan as it stocks La Perla night gown, robes both short and long pieces. There is also a range of beach wear and lingerie from Missoni and La Perla. You will also find the Armani hats on display interesting. They are great for a girls’ afternoon outing or you could pair them with your church dresses.

“We also stock nice BexRox bracelets, Lola Cuff, Alabama Cuff,” says Ojo Olubunmi, a sales representative, as she takes me on a tour of the store.”

Modan is not all about women accessories and dresses, it also stocks Armani suits, blazer, pants, shoes, belts, ties and hats for men. Ojo tells me Modan makes a conscious effort to stock from sizes 44 to 52. So if you are a plus size, you will surely feel at home at Modan.

Raj Gowreesunkur, manager, STORAFRICA says Modan plans to add Brioni made-to-measure, Roberto Cavalli Men collection Alberta Ferretti, Moschino, and Philosophy, to its growing list of brands soon.

“Everything we have in store is the latest Spring/Summer 2015 collection,” explains Gowreesunkur. “We are getting the Autum/Winter collection soon. The brands know they have special clients all over the world. So they make pieces to meet their needs. We can make special order on dresses depending on availability from suppliers.”

He further says Modan plans to house Nigerian designers as well and showcase their brands to the rest of the world through various cross public relations activities, collaborations and partnerships.

According to him, Modan gives customers the opportunity to purchase genuine and the latest runway styles from the most sought after international designers, at retail prices obtainable at international luxury department stores, all in a serene environment.
