FUNKE OSAE-BROWN
The imposing height of Maku Plaza overlooks the busy Awolowo Road Ikoyi. Inside this large building is situated Vinci Hair Clinic. Except for a signpost outside the building, it is unbelievable that a hair clinic is there.
As I was ushered into the office, Ayo Otubanjo, director, Vinci Hair Clinic, Nigeria was seated behind his desk. He warmly welcomed me as I placed the tape between us and it started to spur.
Vinci Hair clinic offers an unusual service to men and women who have suffered different degrees of hair loss. Vinci Hair Clinic, the world’s leading specialist hair restoration company, with 29 clinics in 13 countries, covering 6 continents, it only opened its Lagos clinic about a year ago.
Otubanjo tells me as soon as our interview began that Vinci is the first African Hair Restoration Clinic in Lagos. According to him, Vinci is a world leader in delivering cutting edge expert hair restoration solutions, including the revolutionary MSP or Micro-Scalp Pigmentation procedure to over 2,000 clients worldwide, and has an already established global reputation in hair transplants.
“We are opening new ones in more countries,” he explains. “We have been around for about 16 years in different guises. We are one of the larger and worldwide clinics. Most of our competitors tend to be localized in their markets but we have this worldwide coverage. We opened our first clinic in Lagos Nigeria last year. We are approaching our first year anniversary. We are positioning ourselves to be lead provider of hair loss restoration.”
In addition, he says, the clinic offers a wide range of hair restoration treatments, for both men and women. He explains that these exclusive treatments will not only stop further hair loss, but also fill in thinning areas, giving clients back their hairline or covering a balding crown.
“These procedures include Hair Transplants, Scalp Micro Pigmentation, PRP treatments, and other hair restoration solutions,” explains further. “Hair Transplants is usually the last resort on the treatment list. It is not all clients who require hair transplant. We treat the ‘Mama Eko’ syndrome that is popular with Nigerian women. It is usually caused by braids that are too tightened at the hairline causing the hairs to fall off. We can help clients regain their hairline through our SMP, Scalp Micro Pigmentation. It is not just popular but also with men especially men with bald hair. It is a unique treatment that helps men get the permanent look of a full head of hair without surgery or any medication. It has been a tested truly permanent solution for balding. We create something like an illusion to cover the bald area.”
The high tech clinic, provides the latest state of the art technology and treatment rooms in pleasant, relaxing and comfortable surroundings. “We offer the highest level of professionalism, skill and customer care, as our nurses are well trained in this area. People do not need to travel to the US, Dubai or Europe to get in the treatment as we offer the same standard and quality of treatment compared to anywhere in the world. Clients can be rest assured that being part of the Vinci Hair Clinic Worldwide Group we have the extensive experience and expertise the Vinci Hair Clinic is well known for in providing life changing hair restoration techniques.”
He adds that the clinic also offers therapies. “Hair services offered are many. In addition to the ones stated earlier, we offer therapies. We offer surgical procedures as well. It actually depends on the type of hair loss the client is suffering from. We have treatments that can also be used for thinning hair in men and women, hide hair transplant scars, cover Alopecia areata balding spots, bald and thinning spots caused by wearing weaves, dreadlocks or other hairstyles that have caused damage to the hair follicles.”
Otubanjo observes that most hair salons in Nigeria lack the expertise when it comes to handling clients’ hair. “I actually went around some salons in Lagos to have a firsthand experience of how hair is treated. I was shocked that those working in these salons leave relaxers on their clients to attend to other things making the relaxer stay on their clients’ hair longer than the stipulated time written on the bottles of relaxers. This could totally damage the clients’ hair. Normally, relaxer isn’t supposed to stay till its starts burning the scalp. It is dangerous.”
It is in the light of this that Vinci will be taking part in the upcoming Beauty Africa Exhibition & Conference that is taking place at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos from 7-9 October, 2015. “At the conference we want to start the conversation on how hair care and introduce our services to participants,” adds Otubanjo.
“We have a wide variety of hair loss solutions and restoration techniques for you. Prices start from NGN 18,000; typical prices for the SMP start from NGN 375,000, and Hair Transplants are $4,000. The best way to find out more information about the treatments available which would suit you and your needs is to visit our clinic for a free, no obligation consultation. You can discuss your hair loss issues in a warm, friendly and nurturing environment, with a professional consultant, who will understand and provide solutions to your hair loss issues.”
